Lloyd Bernard (Scorch) Pattison died peacefully at home in Fayette, surrounded by his family, on May 5, 2022. Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM, Monday, May 9, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church in Fayette with Rev. Mike Jager officiating. Burial followed at Grandview Cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post #339 of Fayette. Visitation was  held from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 8th at the First United Methodist Church in Fayette and for one hour preceding services at the Church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, Bernard would like you to donate to Maple Crest Manor, 100 Bolger Dr.  or Upper Iowa University’s UIU Fund, PO Box 1857, both Fayette, Iowa 52142. Lee E. Priebe, 84, of Hawkeye, died Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the Alpha United Methodist Church with Mona Christie, Lay Speaker officiating. Burial followed at the Alpha Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 9, at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Hawkeye and for one hour preceding services at the Church on Tuesday. Sharon Riha, 61, of Ossian, Iowa was freed of all her pain on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. She will be greatly missed. Sharon Kay was born on May 21, 1960 in Decorah, Iowa to John and Arietha (Ihde) Riha.  Sharon attended DeSales Grade School and graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1978.

 ljoe Roger Kapell, 67 of Blue Grass, IA died in the loving arms of his wife on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Genesis Medical Center East, in Davenport, IA after an extended illness.

 ljoe, “AJ” Roger Kapell was born September 28, 1954 in Decorah, IA to Albert and Marjorie (Spilde) Kapell. He attended South Winneshiek High School followed by a degree in Electronics Engineering Technology at Hamilton Technical College in Davenport, IA.

Marlene Joy (Wedo) Greener, 83, of Eldridge, Iowa formerly Elgin, Iowa died Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa. Marlene was born at her grandmother’s home in Clermont on November 18, 1938, the daughter of Fred and Amelia (Miller) Wedo and grew up in Elgin, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She graduated from Elgin High School with the class of 1956. 

Marlene was united in marriage with Arden Greener on July 17, 1960. Two children, Alan and Angela, were born to this union. Marlene spent several years as Church Secretary at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and in 1972 began working at the Elgin Post Office. In 1981 she was appointed Postmaster and served Elgin in this capacity until her retirement in 1998.

Virgie Evangeline (Mosby) Granger, formerly of Plymouth and Minnetonka MN, died on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah, Iowa.

No public memorial is planned.  A private family interment will take place in West Union, IA at a later date.

Virgie was born October 12, 1922 in West Union, IA, to Oscar and Selma (Anderson) Mosby.  She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Olaf Norwegian Lutheran Church in West Union.  She attended West Union public schools and graduated in 1940 from West Union High School.  While in school, Virgie was frequently a soprano soloist at church, school and community events.  She attended the University of Northern Iowa where she earned a B.A. Degree in Vocal Music and, as a young woman, Virgie taught high school music in several Iowa cities.

Rosemary H. Kruse age 87 of Waucoma, IA, died Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Home in Mason City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, St. Lucas with Rev. Nick Radloff celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at St. Lukes Catholic Church. Visitation continues an hour prior to Mass at the church on Wednesday.

Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory is entrusted with arrangements.

Rosemary was born May 8, 1934, in St. Lucas, IA, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Schmitt) Hageman, and grew up on a farm with her parents and five siblings. She received her education at St. Luke's Catholic School and after graduating, she continued to help her parents on the farm.

Myron Eugene Guritz Jr. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, April 9 at the age of 66. Myron was born in Sumner, Iowa on September 16, 1955 to Myron Eugene & Ruth Irene (Solomon) Guritz. He attended Sumner Elementary, St. Peter Lutheran School in Westgate, and graduated from North Fayette High School in 1974. In 1977, Myron married Renee Wilker and to this union he was blessed with three children Jason, Rusty, and Lacy. They would later divorce. In September 2007 Myron met Mary Wirkler at the Pocket City Pub in McGregor, Iowa. They were married on August 22, 2009 and were forever known as M &M.
